What We Do
Healing Nest Foundation (HNF) is a non-profit Early Intervention Therapeutic Center that works to enhance coping mechanisms and impart appropriate skills to improve the living conditions for disabled children and their families and enable them to attain formal education. It specializes in working with Neuro-developmental disorders in children, such as Autism, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, learning disabilities, mental retardation, global dev. disorders and speech and hearing impairments. It was started in 2014 with an aim to build an enriching environment for children & adolescents with disabilities to help them overcome their challenges and live a life of dignity.
OUR JOURNEY
2014
Healing Nest started her journey in the year 2014 in a 1 room apartment with a handful of children diagnosed with various neuro-developmental disorders and some were just developmentally delayed.
We started with one to one intervention and provided Social language therapy, Occupational therapy and Group work to teach social skills. We were able to reach out to nearby neighbors and advertise our work and also slowly making our mark towards the larger society working for mental health.
2015
From few handful children we were slowly able to reach out to more parents, schools and other organizations. With open arms and complete acceptance we let all kind of children join us specially those seeking support from us. Our team became bigger from 3 to 6 people.
Our primary goal was to be child centric and accomodate all children and we were successfully doing it.We saw happy satisfied parents as well as confidant professionals.
We celebrated few festivals together and here are some of the glimpses.
2016
With the beginning of 3rd year, we reached out to the neighbouring society and did an awareness rally on Autism Awareness day ie 2nd april. We were able to reach out to 100 people and distributed pamphlet with mental health information. We now had about 15 children and 8 therapists and 2 support staff. We were getting a lot of positive response from parents and also from the schools around. But one thing which came as a surprise was, there were no play school around to cater these children. Thus their school readiness was very poor to go to a bigger private school.Many parents insisted if we could start`a play group which entailed therapeutic intervention and group time with other children.
And then we started our "play group program " for age group 2-5 years. We used music,dance movement and other creative ways to work with children.
2017
2017 marked with moving in to a bigger space, our new office at Shantikunj (vasant kunj).
By this time Healing Nest Foundation started reaching out and doing workshops & awareness programes in and around south delhi. Our team became bigger with teachers ,interns and therapists making it a multifaceted team.
We did open house training for parents where our team gave them an overview of the new programes in the new space and also provided them with home plans to do at home. More and more parents reached us and we were known around for our work.
2018
2018 marked with bigger dreams! We wished to go farther and reach out to more people who are in need so our new center opened in Aug 2018 in Noida. With new branch we had new team and now we were total of 20 professionals and support staff. We were happy to reach out to more than 100 children by the end of the year 2018. We celebrated many festivals at the new center.
We were continuing with our summer camp/winter camps in both the centers and were elated to get a positive response from the surrounding.
2018 was also a big year as we were now a registered organization .A Non profit organisation incorporated U/S 8 of Company Act, 2013
2019
2019 marked with more extensive work on reaching out, doing more workshops more trainings in more schools, in-house parenting workshops,awareness programes in colonies,etc. We were working towards our bigger goal to make our parents empowered.
We now had a bigger role to manage two centers, we have our highs and lows but we were consistent with quality of team and professional work.
2020
2018 marked with bigger dreams! We wished to go farther and reach out to more people who are in need so our new center opened in Aug 2018 in Noida. With new branch we had new team and now we were total of 20 professionals and support staff. We were happy to reach out to more than 100 children by the end of the year 2018.
